If you’ve been researching ways to get bigger breasts naturally, there is no doubt you’ve heard of the breast enhancing benefits of Pueraria Mirifica.
It’s only been a few years since this plant came to the attention of the West, but it’s benefits have been known to its native Thailand and Myanmar for ages.
There are records dating back at least 700 years, illustrating a time when locals in Northern Thailand gifted Pueraria Mirifica to the most revered monks to wish them clarity of thought and longevity. The monks recorded the many virtues of Pueraria on palm leaves and recent translations reveal the monk’s instructions on how to take the plant as well as the plant’s health and beauty benefits. A sample of the inscription reads:
To take the tuberous root of Pueraria with big leaves, pound and blend with cow’s milk. The benefits of this medicine is to support memory, talk big, and be able to remember three books of the astrology, make the skin smooth like six year old kid, live more than 1,000 years and parasite diseases are not able to be of trouble.
And all that sounds good and dandy – but that’s just folklore, right?
Not quite. Although the health and beauty benefits have been known to locals of Thailand and Myanmar for centuries (complete with anecdotal evidence of male monks who consumed the plant growing breasts), there was little scientific credibility to back up these claims. That is, until 1960, when an unusual estrogenic phenol, miroestrol, was isolated from the the roots of Pueraria Mirifica.
Miroestrol is similar to estriol, which is one of the three main estrogens produced by the human body. It’s widely considered as the “safest” of the estrogen hormones since it is weaker than the other estrogens yet provides the same benefits. Some studies have also shown that estriol has a higher affinity to the estrogen receptors on breast tissue. As such, it’s often the choice of estrogens for bio-identical hormone-replacement treatment regimes.
Pueraria Mirifica was the first – and to this day, only – plant in which miroestrol has been found. Because of this, Pueraria Mirifica is the plant with the greatest phytoestrogenic activity – miroestrol is 3,000 times stronger than the estrogenic activity measured in soy isoflavones and 1,000 times stronger than that of red clover.
It is because of this potent estrogenic activity that Pueraria has become known for its breast enhancement benefits, as well as its ample anti-aging and menopause relief benefits.
I really like Pueraria Mirifica as an internal breast enhancement method since it can be taken effectively by most women (and men) regardless of their age or body temperature (unlike bovine ovary).
But the one group of people I would not recommend Pueraria Mirifica for are those with Estrogen Dominance.

Pueraria Mirifica is a potent phytoestrogen and its high estrogen content may exacerbate the symptoms of already too-high estrogen levels.
Sure, there are some websites that claim that although PM is an estrogen mimic, it doesn’t make estrogen dominance worse. A well-known authority on Pueraria Mirifica, Dr. Gary Gordon, has been quoted saying ”Pueraria mirificia is able to bind on the estrogen that are in my brain, my prostate, my bone, and our breasts and have, therefore, a way of protecting those sites against the outside influence of toxic substances, which we call estrogen mimics.”
Still, unless there is more research to back up how Pueraria Mirifica’s miroestrol affects estrogen dominance in the body, I recommend against Estrogen Dominant women from taking Pueraria Mirfica for bigger breasts.

Did you know that the “Mirifica” in Pueraria Mirifica means miracle?
But its miraculous benefits don’t extend to all plants commonly sold as Pueraria Mirifica or Kwao Krua (its Thai name).
There are actually thirteen known varieties of Kwao Krua, some of which are Red Kwao Krua (Butea superba), Black Kwao Krua, Grey Kwao Krua, and White Kwao Krua (Pueraria Mirifica). It is only the white kwao krua that provides the miraculous benefits associated with this miracle plant.
On top of that, the Pueraria Mirifica should only come from the northern regions of Thailand since this is the only place on earth where it grows (also grows in Myanmar, but 99% of PM comes from northern Thailand). Do not trust or buy any Pueraria Mirifica that is not sourced from this region.
The last important note to consider when buying Pueraria Mirifica for breast enhancement is to only buy Pueraria Mirifica that is farmed cultivar – not wild. This is the only kind of Pueraria Mirifica known to have potent, miraculous benefits for the breasts, skin, and hair.
Before we get to the five steps to taking Pueraria Mirifica for maximum breast gain, I want to go over a “pre-step.”
As I mention above, it’s important that you know the state of your hormones before you embark upon any breast enhancement method that affects your hormones. Even if you’re not estrogen dominant, knowing the hormone levels in your body will help you plan for and take the necessary steps such as taking an anti-androgen to decrease testosterone levels or adding a progesterone cream to balance your estrogen levels.

Okay, now onto the three steps to take Pueraria mirifica for bigger breasts…
Step 1. Detox to Set the Stage for Growth
Do you smoke or breathe in exhaust fumes? Eat non-organic produce? Live in areas with lawns that are sprayed with herbicides, pesticides, fungicides? Eat animal products that have been fattened with estrogenic drugs?
The answer is probably yes. Don’t worry – most of us do. It’s hard to live life in a completely toxin-free environment and as a result, most of us are carrying excess toxins and foreign estrogens called xenoestrogens. Foreign estrogens in particular are terrible for your body and breasts since these hormonal toxins disrupt the hormonal balance in your body and make it much harder for your Pueraria Mirifica to really work for you.
This is why it’s crucial that you take the time to do a detox before getting started on Pueraria Mirifica.
I recommend a simple, two-week detox during which you regularly take Milk Thistle – great for the liver – and drink plenty of water. I highly recommend Jarrow’s Milk Thistle ($7) for this – it’s the best of its class.
This will give your body a chance to rid itself of excess toxins and set the stage for growth before you start supplying your body with breast-enhancing Pueraria Mirifica.
Step 2. Choose the Best Products
As I mentioned above, not all Pueraria Mirifica products are the same. It really matters what kind of PM it is, where it comes from, and how it is harvested. If it’s not from northern Thailand, if it’s not white kwao krua, if it’s not farmed cultivar – it is not effective.
That’s why the only Pueraria Mirifica products I recommend on this site are 100% pure farmed cultivar. My favorite is Ainterol’s capsules – they’re not only high-quality PM, but also contain a potent amount (500mg in each capsule). To top it off, they’re actually really affordably priced.
Step 3. Figure Out the Particulars
Pueraria Mirifica can be a tricky breast enhancement route to take. There’s so much divergent information out there on how much you should take, how you should take it, what you should take it with that it can all get incredibly confusing.
When deciding upon the particulars, please keep in mind that every body is different and the most important thing is that you find a way to take PM that best suits you.

How: This is the easiest part. Pueraria Mirifica should be taken on an empty stomach and it is recommended that it is taken with milk. The milk recommendation is primarily for the calcium. If you have an aversion to cow’s milk – or you, like me, break out when you drink milk – take a calcium supplement with your PM instead of milk. I highly recommend Rainbow Light’s Magnesium Calcium tablets as it’s bio-available and easy for your body to absorb and it also contains magnesium – a super important nutrient for your body’s adrenal (hormonal) functions.
When: It’s recommend that you space out your PM dosage – once in the morning and once in the evening. Space it approximately 12 hours apart.
To Cycle or Not to Cycle: There are so many differing opinions on this point. Some recommend taking PM only during your menses. Some recommend taking PM only before the onset of menstruation. And still some recommend taking it every single day, regardless of your menstrual cycle.
The cycle that makes the most sense to me is to take it during your menstruation. Why? Simply because our natural estrogen levels are the highest when we menstruate. When your menstruation ends, your estrogen levels decrease and your progesterone levels increase. It just makes sense to follow the natural order of the body.
Note: If you’re going to be using progesterone cream along with PM, it’s best to cycle by taking PM during the days you have your period and then using the progesterone cream on the days you don’t have your period. Dosage: The biggest confusion that arises when starting on Pueraria Mirifica is how much of it you should take. And it’s no wonder since every manufacturer seems to recommend different dosages. The thing to remember when it comes to the “right” dosage for Pueraria Mirifica is that the potency of every Pueraria Mirifica product will vary and the manufacturer’s instructions are reflective of that.
IMHO, the best way to figure out the correct dosage for you is to start small and listen to your body. I recommend starting with around 400 mg per day for the first month and then increasing the amount little by little until you get to that perfect sweet spot where you’re feeling growing pains (swelling, sore breasts) but without unwanted side effects.
Step 4. Combine Methods for Maximum Growth
Most women take Pueraria Mirifica orally and whereas many see results with that alone, I recommend adding a few other methods to really maximize your breast growth.

Chi Massage w/ Pueraria Mirifica Serum. Most women take PM orally only, but did you know that PM can be applied topically and transdermally absorbed as well? In fact, PM that’s taken orally loses a bit of its potency due to stomach acid and getting filtered by the liver whereas PM that’s absorbed through the skin goes straight to your blood stream. I recommend mixing a little PM serum with your choice of breast massage oil and treating yourself to daily Chi Massages.
Anti-Androgens. If you took a hormone test and are high in testosterone, it’s going to be helpful for you to take an anti-androgen to reduce your testosterone levels. Spearmint tea is an easy, delicious way to do this. Get it caffeine-free – caffeine is not helpful to breast growth.
Step 5. Helpful Sidekicks to Get to Most Growth on PM
Your breasts need good, nutritious food to grow. Making sure you give your body ample nutrition is one of the most important things you can do to maximize your breast growth. Consume plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. And super importantly – get enough protein! If you’re vegetarian, make sure you’re consuming protein-rich whole grains like quinoa and plenty of nuts.
There are also several supplements that will work in concert with PM to maximize your breast growth. There are a lot awesome supplements out there, but these are the must-haves to maximize your breast growth on PM:
Calcium. Pueraria Mirifica is recommended to be taken with milk since calcium is meant to help the absorption of phytoestrogens. I recommend taking a bio-available form of calcium instead – the best capsules are Rainbow Light’s Magnesium Calcium tablets since the minerals are bio-available (easy to absorb) and you get both the needed calcium as well as magnesium (which most of us are deficient in and which is crucial for healthy adrenal function – remember adrenals rule hormones).
Omega-3s. Omega 3 fatty acids are crucial for a healthy body and hormonal balance. I absolutely recommend you incorporate omega-3s into your daily diet, especially if you’re recovering from estrogen dominance or any other form of hormonal imbalance. I particularly love this product by Garden of Life – it’s a great source of omega-3s and worth every penny.
Protein. Proteins are the building blocks of hormones. If you’re not getting enough protein in your diet, add on a protein supplement. They’re easy to blend into fruit smoothies and really, really help breast growth. I saw a huge difference when I started adding protein in addition to my PM supplements and have never really stopped. You should keep in mind, though, that you could start seeing weight gain with regular protein shake intake so make sure to adjust your diet accordingly. My favorite protein is NOW Food’s whey protein – it blends perfectly with fruit smoothies and is virtually tasteless once blended. Plus, a jar of it will last you forever.
Note: Whey protein can cause acne breakouts in some people. If you’re one of those people, I strongly recommend hemp protein – the Nutiva brand is the best I’ve tried so far.
